Well… better late than never!

We ran to the Mall today to get Tom and Alex’s pictures taken with Santa.   I thought it was going to be a nightmare as Alex was squirming all over the place demanding to go play, but just as we got to Santa I said…. “Alex… go show Santa your Lightning McQueen”… and all was good.

Here’s a picture of the event to share….

This is a tradition we started last year.   We bought a tube at the store that’s supposed to be a Christmas Tree Ornament which says on the side : Letter to Santa.  What we do is we write our letter to Santa and we place it in the tube and hang it on the door, then at some point in the evening an Elf on one of Santa’s Reindeer’s comes to collect the letter.

Last year was amazing and Tom was just utterly awed by the whole process.  This year was no different.  Tom and I are in Alex’s room reading Alex a bedtime story when we hear a bell ringing outside the bedroom window!  Tom ran to the window and then all three of us ran to the front door.  Tom is frantically looking around trying to see the reindeer to no avail.  He then grabs the tube and looks at me with total, complete and utter awe at the fact that the letter is gone!  John came out of the house and said : “What’s happening?” as Tom ran out into the front garden and yelled up into the sky : “Thank you!”.

I tried soooo hard not to cry, but I’m welling up just writing this…. 🙂

Sometimes I wish my children never had to grow up because things like this are so incredibly special.   I will treasure this memory forever and I will always have a snapshot in my mind of my little boy’s face when he saw the letter was gone…

So, we went to Seaworld this week to visit Santa and the Polar Express exhibit they have there. We went during the week at the end of the day to avoid the crowds and it was okay actually. They have put Santa in the Wild Arctic area and it was really rather cold in there! It was pretty cold anyway for Florida, but it was even colder in with Santa.

Anyway… whereas with Alex I cannot get him to even look at the camera, Tom just strikes a pose on demand! Now all we need to do is work on the cheesy grin and I’ll have a model for all occasions! Check these out!

Starting with the Seaworld Christmas Tree …

It really was rather amazing… and now Tom with the Tree and Alex as we know and love him 😉

So, Alex is going for the hippie look. We love it! He loves it! He’s a total little rocker and as soon as I can find my little video recorder I’m going to share a movie of him bouncing around like a little mad thing to Tran-Siberian Orchestra’s Wizard of Winter!

Here’s some pictures …

So, today we put up our Christmas Tree! Already full swing into Christmas Spirit here! Pass the mulled wine!

Alex was napping, so I thought I’d snap this shot before he wakes up and the whirlwind of destruction has a chance to get his hands on it! And I knew it was tilted. John claims it’s because the top of the tree is slightly bent… but I swear… it’s tilted!
